Theme 12. Harvest Celebration

Rationale:

The Landed Learning Project strives to provide young people with the knowledge and experiences to make informed choices about food consumption. When we eat foods that we have grown ourselves, we are keenly aware of the remarkable partnership of soil, water, air, sun, animals, and human labour in seeing a seed to its literal fruition. By sharing our harvest at the end of our growing season, we celebrate and honour this partnership, and recommit to ensuring that all the components of this collaboration are preserved for future generations.

Student Learning Outcomes: Students will be able to:

  • share foods that were grown and prepared with their own labor
  • give thanks to the earth, sun, water, air, animals, and humans for their role in providing food and teaching us this year
  • celebrate the collaboration of earth, sun, water, air, animals, and humans in providing food
  • communicate their garden knowledge to parents and guests
