Dennis Sumara is Professor and Head of the Department
of Curriculum and Pedagogy at the University of British
Columbia. Prior to his appointment at UBC in 2006, he
held positions at the University of Alberta, York University,
and Simon Fraser University. During the 1980s he was
a classroom teacher in rural southern Alberta, specializing
in middle school language arts instruction.
