When planning your website, draw
thumbnail sketches and consider:
- Interface
and intraction (Inquiry-oriented) How you will organize the website
so that the user canconduct inquiry about the content ideas. Come
up with a general structure for pages and topics by storyboarding
the interface of your website.
- Function
(Intuitive and Clear)
Using a metaphor to help organize the content.
Consider how each page of the site functions.
How will users move from one page to
another?
- Design
(Visually Strong
Communication) What your goals are for creating your
website.Develop ideas to help the user explore the
site. How is the site designed? Avoid having too many
page levels. Users want to get to the information
quickly and having too many menu pages will annoy
them.
-
- When you plan
your site, you may want to experiment with several
designs for organizing information, and consider
multiple ways people can navigate to the individual
pages in your site. Most people will experience your
site one page at a time with the home page or
spashpage as the starting page.
Spend some time planning your Web
site so that the organization and visual presentation of
your Web pages communicate your intent effectively. When
you are ready to build your site, you can use the Claris
Home Page Site Editor to view and edit your site's
organization.
- What type of information or
content do you want to put on your
website?
- Who is your
audience?
- How will the people use the
site?
- What are your goals for
creating your website?
